Consumer information

Many consumers faced with diagnostic imaging tests are anxious about the results and are worried about tests they know little or nothing about. This can limit their ability to attend to and recall verbal information. A previous QUDI project on consumer information strategies reported that consumers wanted to know more about the radiology procedures that they were being referred for. A detailed literature review, consultations, survey and analysis discovered that the preferred method of receiving this information was a written question and answer format at the point of referral. The information presented on this web site, which can be viewed, printed and downloaded, fulfils these consumer needs. The rigorous methodology ensures that the information is of high quality.

Information for health professionals

The consumer information strategies project found that referring practitioners would also benefit from receiving information about the radiology procedures they were referring patients for. This information was developed by radiologists to inform other health professionals about the indications and risks associated with each procedure. The development process has allowed for the addition of clinical information for health professionals to the consumer material.
